I'm Sorry, I Thought This Was America?

When was someone going to tell me that we were now a socialist state? I thought that the red scare was over, but it looks like the communists have won after all. If you haven't seen it on your news feed of choice yet, it turns out that a 9-year-old Connecticut boy was banned from playing baseball because he was too good. I thought you were supposed to chase your dreams, do what you love, do what you do best, follow your heart, find your passion, and all those other silly phrases, but apparently I was wrong. A 9-year-old boy who can throw a 40 MPH fastball with incredible control has no right to pitch. In fact, league officials, one of whom is 100% coincidentally the coach of the defending champions who unsuccessfully courted the young pitcher, recommended he play another position. I thought this was a rare case, but it turns out there have been a lot of people who are punished for being too good at something.

Bill Gates - Punished for being too good at running a monopoly
Milli Vanilli - Punished for being too good at making everything think they were talented
R. Kelly - Punished for being too good at taping himself pissing on underage girls
Girls under the age of 16 - Punished for being too good at Olympic gymnastics
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - Punished for being too good at fighting social inequality
Lee Harvey Oswald - Punished for being too good a marksman
Richard Nixon - Punished for being too good at being paranoid

I'm sure with some more thought I could just go on and on, but the point has been made. Focus on developing your second best skill, and you can fly completely under the radar rather than being punished.
