Where in the bible are there vegetables?

Who thought that having talking vegetables teach kids about religion was a good idea? I understand that it somehow has become popular, but how the fuck did they come up with this idea?

FACT: Kids don't like listening to their parents
FACT: Kids don't like to eat their vegetables

Maybe this is why I'm not in marketing, but I don't see how you can look at those facts and think that the natural conclusion to draw from them is that kids will love listening to vegetables that talk just like their parents. "Well, I WAS going to punch my little brother in the face, take all his money, and go buy a ton of candy with it even though my mom said not to and that my soul will burn in a pit of fiery torment for all eternity if I do, but when that cucumber says the same thing I suddenly find it much more meaningful."
